Inside Founder and CEO Christine Carlton’s Dreamy Home
“I think great interiors, like wardrobes and shoe collections, need to evolve,” says Christine. “I never want my home to stagnate and I never think of it as ‘finished.’ In fact, I relish freshening it up.”
So, when the time came to reboot her Toronto residence, Christine enlisted designer Mia Parres, the mastermind behind The September Townhouse. “Mia has a feminine style that appeals to me but it’s also versatile – I have a husband, two kids and a dog so my home had to be family-friendly and hard-working.”
To balance form with function, Mia relied on accessories to channel the femininity Christine loves (there are pops of pink throughout and a twinkly chandelier) and tempered those with casual textures as seen in the whimsical wicker armchairs and the tactile area rugs.
The result is a resolutely elegant space that’s not off limits to the kids or mohawk (the family’s beloved golden retriever) and completely in sync with entertaining. “i can’t wait for summer barbecues and dinner parties,” says christine.
Until then, you can find christine relishing at-home time in her preferred loungewear of choice: KIP pjs. “My daughter and I wear them around the house and my mum loved ours so much, I bought her a pair.” Perhaps those summer dinner parties will end up turning into pyjama parties…
