New Year! New Decade! New Chapter! New Collections! New Intentions!

Each year between Christmas and New Year’s our family heads to our cottage on Georgian Bay to use this quiet time for rest and reflection. This year I had the opportunity to reflect on the past decade, and not just the past year. As I close the chapter on the last decade, I couldn’t help but reminisce about the journey I’ve been on since launching The September. I won’t lie, it hasn’t been easy, but it’s been oh so rewarding!

In the early years of the business I realized quickly that we were not simply buying shoes to sell to customers. We were sourcing beautiful items that make our customers feel incredible, creating and uniting community and creating stories to share helpful lifestyle tips.

We know all too well how the fast pace of modern life can leave us feeling overwhelmed with too much to do and too many choices to make. We’ve created The September to be a welcome reprieve from the busyness of everyday life, a place to find solace and joy for our customers.

We have decided to leave our cherished Toronto Townhouse, so we can ensure we are offering the same level of service from coast to coast. You will continue to see new brands added throughout the year, many with female founders at the helm, as we want to ensure we are your go-to destination for discovery and inspiration. It’s you, our customers, and your incredible style, intelligence and spirit, that serve as our inspiration day after day.

With children of my own, I’m reminded that we need to do our part for the generations that are to come. After several discussions, I was quickly assured and reminded that buying a high-quality item that has versatility in styling that will last for years is one of the most sustainable product options on the market. In the coming year, we will expand our product offering of sustainable and natural beauty brands.

I referenced reflecting on the past decade, and what I’m most excited to share is that my definition of success has changed dramatically. Having left the corporate world to start a new business, I had always defined success by achieving goals and targets. I now define success by acknowledging how much happiness The September has brought me. Having delighted customers is the ultimate definition of joy for me. In addition to our customers, I am most grateful for my wonderful team. They are kind, caring and immensely talented and have contributed to the success of The September in so many ways.

Here’s to the wonders that may come for each of you as we enter into a new year, a new decade and a new chapter.
